I am not a theater performer, nor have I ever been to a performance on Broadway itself. But I have seen many traveling performances. We listen to SiriusXM 72 and love Seth, Christine and the clan. I bought this book for my own education about what goes into the shows we love. I found it very interesting and leaving me wanting more stories about experiences. My main criticism is actually Brenda's writing style- her enthusiasm and passion comes through- but all those exclamation marks. Very hard to read through. Most writing teachers actually discourage the use of exclamation marks, we get perhaps one a year so use it well. So, read this book, enjoy it and most of all learn from it. But if you write a book, go easy on all the exclamation marks. Oh, one more thing- the formatting on the kindle addition was pretty screwy, there were places where the margin was very wide, so the section looked to be a poem, and often words were disjointed as though they had been paragraphed in the middle. A tad more editing perhaps?Product details

The Little Black Book of Backstage Etiquette eBook Brenda Braxton Reviews
I must say that as a big fan of Brenda Braxton. this book was really a lot of fun to read as well as very informative. It was really interesting reading about some of the things that went on "Behind the curtain." I was fortunate and blessed to be able to attend Brenda's event in which she autographed my copy. And THAT makes it a great deal more special. Buy it and read it....you will not be disappointed!
I must say this book is the BEST guide to the do's and don'ts in the work space backstage. This book gives you insight that you will not learn in school. It's about respect for your colleagues, being professional at all times, and gives you the tools you need to have a successful career, no matter what your career choices are. I bought 3 copies to pass on to my younger colleagues who are just starting out in the business. Miss Braxton has shared her illustrious career with heart and a lot of soul. She is an artist, a producer, an author, and a teacher. This book should be part school curriculums. Bravo Miss Braxton!! Can't wait for the next one.

If you are in theater arts of any kind, you MUST HAVE THIS BOOK! If you are teaching or mentoring in the theater arts, this is a must read for all your students. Brenda Braxton is a Tony Award nominee (For Smoky Joe's Cafe), author, singer & actress. Not only is she amazing, but so down to earth. In this book, she shows you the ropes to show business. Too many young folk of this generation take for granted what it takes to make it in this business & many just don't know how to act when they're working with fellow performers, directors, production managers & the like... This book is an excellent guide. Highly recommended!!!
Very insightful and funny! A great buy for a budding actor.
Quick read, I like the additional insight from theater managers, musical conductors etc.
Some of the information is common sense like show up early, don't talk behind other actor's backs,,,
I love Brenda Braxton. She is a wonderful performer and an absolute professional. Her book is full of humor and truth. There are lots of great tips for how to get along with everyone. There are load of quotes from folks who tell it like it is. I've been working in and around the theatre for a long time and still found more to learn from her book.
If you've ever performed on Broadway, Off-Broadway, been on tour, or even small or community theater, this is a book every new comer (and some established performers) should read. Filled with backstage etiquette you should know, and new tips for the electronic age, these words of wisdom are delivered in a loving and gentle manner by Broadway Tony nominee Brenda Braxton. Additional tips are provided by several of her Broadway and theater comrades. Easy to read and wonderfully to the point. Its common sense approach will make you go "hmmmm". If you have family or friends in the business, this would be a wonderful stocking stuffer that will definitely not go unused. I loved it!
